The 29th Reunion of the Alumni Association of Ramakrishna Mission Calcutta Students’ Home, Belgharia was held between 24 and 26 December 2022. Near about 500 ex-students of this Students’ Home attended the function. Revered Swami Annapurnanandaji Maharaj, the former Secretary of this Ashrama inaugurated the function on 24 December at 3.30 p.m. at the first convention. Revered Swami Ekavratanandaji Maharaj, Secretary of the Students’ Home delivered the Address of Welcome. The souvenir embellished with various articles, poems, reminiscences etc. was published in the function. In the evening Sri Abhishek Barker performed a musical presentation on Sarod accompanied by Sri Soumitrajit Chatterjee on Tabla.
The second convention of the alumni association was held on 25 December from 10 a.m. The monks, senior and junior ex-students reminisce their golden days spent at Students’ Home and the present and former students in audience cherished the fun and nostalgia of those days. The joyous moment was captured in a group photo with all the monastic members, former and present students at 12 noon. A religious meeting was taken place at 3.30 p.m. on the day. The topic of the meeting was “125 years of Ramakrishna Mission”. Revered Swami Sarvalokanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Narendrapur presided over the meeting while Revered Swami Annapurnanandaji Maharaj was present as the Guest-in-Chief. The special attraction of the evening was the drama namely “Akshay Tun” enacted by the ex-students at the Vivekananda Centenary Hall.
The concluding session was held on 26 December from 10 a.m. “The Social Services rendered by our ex-students” was discussed in the session. A friendly cricket match between the former and present students delighted everyone at the afternoon. The students of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa (GAP) mesmerized all with their recitations, songs, dances, drama etc. The juggling show performed by the students of Students’ Home and the GAP directed by Sri Abhishek Mitra was simply amazing. The reunion program was culminated with the musical presentation on Saxophone by Sri Anup Chatterjee accompanied with Sri Amitabha Chatterjee on Keyboard in the evening. In short, the reunion celebration was a rejuvenating experience for one and all who attended.
