Saraswati Puja is celebrated with all joy and solemnity. Worshiping of goddess Saraswati, devotional songs and performing Hate-khari are its characteristic features. Everybody offers flowers (pushpanjali) at the feet of the Divine Mother – the Goddess of Learning seeking divine knowledge.

Around 1500 devotees and ex-students attend and are served with cooked prasada at noon.

Saraswat Sammelan follows in the next day morning. The dais is glorified by the presence of some eminent personalities. Sri Mahendranath Gupta, the writer of Sri Sri Ramakrishna Kathamrita, during his lifetime, graciously attended the function more than once. A special issue of hand-written magazine – “Vidarthy” is also published.

The immersion of the image of goddess Saraswati in the next day’s evening is followed by performing of Drama by the inmates, the chief attraction of that evening.
